Old Mission is seeking a Quantitative Trader to join our growing team in our Chicago HQ. This Quantitative Trader will bridge trading, quantitative research, and technology to enhance our decision-making processes. In this role, Quantitative Traders will explore ideas by diving deep into market data and applying mathematics, statistics, and programming to identify patterns that become trading signals, which you will rigorously backtest and analyze to improve trading decisions. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, troubleshoot, and optimize trading strategies along with their supporting pricing, risk management, and order execution systems.
  • Continuously refine trading models and parameters through rigorous research and data-driven analysis.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for market share growth and product expansion.
  • Generate revenue by exploiting short-term mispricing and strategically managing larger positions.
  • Partner with technology and quantitative teams to ensure algorithm functionality and reliability.
  • Leverage data analysis to optimize trading parameters and enhance algorithm performance.
  • Develop algorithm improvements to maximize liquidity provision and maintain competitive advantage.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Degree in a quantitative discipline including Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a quantitative or systematic trading environment
  • Proficiency in programming languages for data processing and analysis, particularly Python.
  • Familiarity with C++ or other low-level programming languages is desired.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Prior finance industry experience is not necessary, though genuine enthusiasm for solving financial problems with real-time market impact is essential.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and logical reasoning skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and actively understand diverse perspectives.
