Freepoint Commodities

Freepoint Commodities was built to take on the established commodity-trading giants by controlling the chain rather than trading around it. David Messer founded it in 2011 in partnership with private equity firm Stone Point Capital, pairing financial backing with a team that integrates physical asset ownership and financial hedging under one roof.

The firm trades on its own book across oil and refined products, natural gas and LNG, power, base metals and concentrates, and agriculture, while actively running the assets behind those flows: terminals, storage, transportation, and power plants. Merchant trading, merchant finance, and retail energy round out the model.
