Capital Fund Management has its headquarters in Paris, and in 2025 Paris was the second-biggest office of Qube Research & Technologies. Citadel Securities, Squarepoint, Jump Trading, Tower Research Capital and Point72 also have Paris offices.

A recruiter’s 2026 survey puts the base for a mid-level quant in Paris at €85,000 to €120,000. Firms here rarely state pay, so recruiter ads for unnamed clients fill in the rest, and they reach €200,000 in base for a trader.

How much do quants earn in Paris?

A recruiter’s 2026 survey puts base pay for mid-level quant professionals in Paris at €85,000 to €120,000. Senior hires and revenue-generating roles can earn more than €150,000 in base pay, in particular at global investment banks and at multinational hedge funds with a Paris office.

The bonus is paid on top of that base, and at a trading firm or hedge fund it grows faster than the base does.

What do Paris job ads offer?

Recruiter ads for unnamed clients state pay for Paris quant roles. In September 2026, the highest ranges were for trading and portfolio management roles, and an entry-level quant researcher role started at €120,000.

A recruiter ad states the range the recruiter advertises for its client. The firm does not publish it.

The entry-level ad sits above the survey’s mid-level band because it is one quantitative hedge fund’s offer, while the band covers quant professionals across the whole Paris market, banks included.

What does total pay look like in Paris?

With the bonus, our estimate for a quant researcher or trader in Paris with 1 to 3 years of experience is €170,000 to €280,000 a year before tax. In the first year the estimate is €145,000 to €180,000, and from 7 years it is €300,000 to €700,000.

The chart below shows every stage. Move the slider to set the base. The guide to quant compensation explains how the bonus works.

Base and bonus by experience, ParisEstimate

At a €100k base, quant researchers in Paris make an estimated €145k to €180k in the first year and €300k to €700k after 7 years. The base barely moves with the years; the bonus does the growing, and in a strong year at the best-paying firms it takes total pay to about 7 times the base.

€100k · typical

Typical range of base in recruiter guides and job ads for the city: €85k to €120k.

  • Researcher, Year 1: base about €100k, estimated total pay €145k to €180k.
  • Researcher, 1 to 3 years: base about €100k, estimated total pay €170k to €280k.
  • Researcher, 4 to 6 years: base about €100k, estimated total pay €195k to €420k.
  • Researcher, 7 years or more: base about €100k, estimated total pay €300k to €700k.

Senior pay goes well past this chart: for a senior trader or researcher, the bonus can be several times the base.

A year, before tax, not counting a sign-on bonus. The low end of each column is an ordinary year at an ordinary firm; the top is a strong year at the best-paying firms.

How this estimate is worked out

The base is the one on the slider, within the range recruiter guides and firms’ job ads give for the city. The bonus is the share of base that people in the role report at each stage, from the lower quarter of reports to the top tenth. The bonus stays the same share when you move the slider, so a higher base brings a larger bonus.

How is pay taxed in France?

French income tax on 2025 income, paid in 2026, is 0% up to €11,600, 11% from €11,601 to €29,579, 30% from €29,580 to €84,577, 41% from €84,578 to €181,917 and 45% above that. The bands apply to each share of a household’s income, and the number of shares depends on the size of the household.

Salary also pays two social levies: CSG at 9.2% and CRDS at 0.5%. Both are charged on 98.25% of the salary, because 1.75% is deducted for work expenses. That deduction stops at four times the annual social security ceiling, and pay above it is charged in full.

What is the French impatriate regime?

The impatriate regime lowers income tax for people who move to France for work. It applies if you were not tax resident in France in the five previous calendar years. Part of your pay then counts as an impatriation bonus, which is exempt from income tax, and that bonus can be set at a flat 30% of net taxable pay.

The exemption lasts until 31 December of the eighth calendar year after the year the job started, so a hire who arrives in 2026 keeps it until the end of 2034.

The saving is large. For a single person on a €150,000 salary, income tax is €29,791 without the regime and €16,660 with the flat 30% exemption.

How do you get an offer at a Paris trading firm?

Paris funds and trading firms test the same core skills: probability, statistics and fast, careful arithmetic. Most processes start with a timed online test or a set of maths questions, then move to interviews where you reason out loud about a model, a bet or a market.

The offer sets the base you negotiate from and the bonus you can grow into. Timed practice in each firm’s format is how you walk into those rounds with the speed they expect.
