Optiver

Optiver started in 1986 as a single options trader on the Amsterdam floor; the name is Dutch for "option trader," and options are still the strategic core. Forty years on it is a global multi-asset market maker with roughly 2,100 staff across eleven offices and seven time zones, trading only its own capital. Unusually for a prop firm, it discloses its numbers: €3.5 billion revenue and €1.4 billion net income in 2024.

Optiver makes markets in listed options, equities, ETFs, futures, fixed income and FX on 100+ venues, and ranks among the most active in European equity derivatives and US index options on CME (Nasdaq 100, Russell 2000, E-mini S&P 500). Engineering is treated as front-office, with FPGA work central and engineers sharing in the trading P&L.
