The Machine Learning Round
A typical design question is: "Here is a dataset of daily returns and fifty features. How would you predict tomorrow's return?" A full answer fixes the target, the validation and a baseline before it names a model, and it says how you would know the model works.
This lesson pulls the course together into the round itself: who runs a machine learning round, the four formats it takes, the derivations to have ready, and a fixed structure for the design question.
Who runs one
The round is not universal. Options market makers and the fastest trading loops mostly test probability, mental arithmetic and trading games, and ask little machine learning. Firms whose research is built on machine learning weight it heavily, and that includes an electronic market maker, XTX Markets. At some firms it is a separate round. At others it is one of the topics an interview can draw on.
