Trading Firms in Jersey City
Jersey City trades on proximity and price: a two-minute PATH ride from Lower Manhattan, waterfront space well below Wall Street rates, and a short hop to the New Jersey data centers that anchor US equity latency. It works as a complement to New York rather than an originator, so much of its footprint is bank technology and back-office infrastructure.
That includes Goldman Sachs's long-standing campus, near NYSE's Mahwah facility and Nasdaq's Carteret colocation. The independent quant presence is a set of smaller automated prop shops that want the colocation adjacency without Manhattan overhead. Mesh Capital has run fully automated strategies here since around 2009, and Scientech Research Capital, founded in 2019, trades from the same Montgomery Street address. Talent flows from Rutgers, Stevens, and NJIT alongside New York hiring. It is a low-overhead staging point, not a rival to Manhattan.
