Tips, scoring & FAQ

Why is this called "Codility" if there is no coding?
Mako's second-round assessment is delivered on the Codility platform, but the round itself is entirely multiple choice; there is no code to write or run. This mock matches that: 28 single-answer questions, no calculator, pen and paper only.
How is the test scored?
28 questions, one point each, no negative marking: +1 for a correct answer and 0 for an incorrect or blank one. Your score is out of 28, and every attempt is saved so you can track your scores over time.
Can I move between questions and change my answers?
Yes. You see one question at a time but can jump to any of the 28, leave questions unanswered, and change a selection at any point before submitting. Nothing is locked in until you submit (or the 30-minute timer runs out).
What happens if I refresh or leave mid-test?
The timer is anchored to when you started, on the server, so if you refresh, the same questions come back with the clock where it left off and your selections restored. An attempt left unfinished expires once its 30 minutes are up and is then graded on whatever you had answered.
What topics are covered?
Roughly 60% probability (binomial supply, Bayes, gambler’s ruin, conditional probability, card and poker odds, coincidence problems, expected value by linearity), 25% reasoning brainteasers (cogs, bridge-and-torch, cube-cutting, ciphers, seating logic, doubling and pigeonhole puzzles), 10% statistics (recursion, Markov hitting times, Wald, records, coupon collector) and a little mental math.
