Mystery Figure

Mystery Figure is the strategic-deduction game from trading-firm cognitive assessments. A figure with several hidden attributes (shape, colour, pattern and more as rounds progress) must be identified in as few guesses as possible. After each guess you are told how many attributes were right, but never which ones.

No, and this is the defining rule: only your attempt count scores, in both modes. That inverts the strategy of every timed drill: a minute of reasoning that saves one guess is always worth it. Reason each guess out fully, use the history panel, and never submit on a hunch.

Do not vary one attribute at a time: it feels systematic but costs roughly one guess per attribute value. Instead choose guesses that split the remaining possibilities as evenly as possible across the feedback counts, even when the guess itself is unlikely to be correct. Information-efficient play resolves the five-attribute round in about five guesses; one-at-a-time plodding takes nine or more.

It lists every guess with its feedback count, because without it the game would test memory rather than deduction. Use it as scratch paper: each feedback count eliminates every figure that does not match it, and the clearest sign of unsystematic play (which the results track) is submitting a figure your own earlier feedback already ruled out.

Standard mode grows from 2 attributes to 5 across its five rounds. Deep mode ends on the full 6-attribute figure with 1,296 possibilities, where efficient play still resolves in under six guesses. The results screen shows your gap to that number. Deep mode is available with a premium subscription.
