Z22 Technologies carries official spin-off recognition from both ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen, a dual academic pedigree from two of Switzerland's most prestigious institutions that few quant funds can claim. Philipp Baumann, an HSG alumnus, founded it in 2019 in Cham, in the canton of Zug.

The firm is fully systematic, a machine-quant approach with no discretionary decisions: machine-learning models trade volatility and trend-following across traditional and crypto markets. Its core programs include a systematic long-short trend strategy in liquid crypto and a multi-asset tactical overlay spanning equities, bonds, gold, commodities, Bitcoin, and cash. It is regulated by FINMA as a manager of collective assets.
