Nomura is one of the few Asian-born houses to have built a genuinely global capital-markets franchise, and unusually it never moved the brain offshore: Tokyo keeps headquarters authority over the systematic and quant operations that many peers have migrated to New York or London.

Founded in 1925, it runs equity, fixed-income, FX, credit and derivatives market-making for institutions across more than thirty countries and is a registered ETF market maker on the Japan Exchange. Its Global Markets division pairs systematic trading and quantitative research with electronic execution, with model development and risk run from Tokyo and a set of regional hubs.
