Hyperithm
In September 2021 Hyperithm became the first ISMS-certified digital asset manager in South Korea, the government-backed information-security standard, and paired it with a VASP licence from the country's Financial Intelligence Unit months later. That combination, a security credential next to a financial-regulatory one, is rare in crypto and sits at the center of how the firm presents itself to institutions.
Founded in Tokyo in January 2018 by Lloyd Lee, a former Morgan Stanley banker, it runs market-neutral algorithmic and high-frequency crypto strategies on trading infrastructure built in Rust. Beyond proprietary trading it operates a Japan FSA-registered qualified-investor fund and a Web3 venture book spanning L1s, L2s, infrastructure, and gaming. Backers include Samsung Next, Coinbase Ventures, and Kakao's investment arms, with a Seoul subsidiary alongside the Tokyo base.
