Great Point Capital keeps two unrelated businesses under one Chicago broker-dealer: a proprietary equity day-trading desk and a boutique investment bank. The trading side hands capital and the Takion platform to in-house and Class B member traders, who work exchange-listed equities and equity and index options intraday and share the profit and loss they generate.

The other half runs private placements, Reg D offerings and wealth management for high-net-worth clients, a clientele and risk profile entirely separate from the trading floor. Founded in 2000 with a second office in Austin, it sits at the mature, smaller end of the Chicago prop landscape, distinctive less for scale than for running a trading arcade and a capital-markets shop side by side.
