BlockTech is crypto from the ground up, not a TradFi desk that wandered into digital assets. Two altcoin enthusiasts founded it in January 2018 and almost immediately pivoted to quoting Bitcoin options, then moved the operation to Amsterdam that August to fish in the city's deep technical talent pool.

The Amsterdam base puts it alongside Flow Traders and the rest of the Dutch market-making cluster, complete with the local ritual of Friday borrels. From that Bitcoin options niche the firm broadened into wider crypto derivatives and spot, opening a Singapore office in 2022 to reach APAC venues and counterparties.
