Bastion was set up to trade Greater China and North Asia, a regional-first mandate that is unusual for a firm now active across global markets. It kept that Asia-headquartered base even as it expanded.

Founded in 2014 in Hong Kong by a mix of traders and technologists, the firm runs mid-to-high-frequency systematic strategies that provide liquidity and capture market inefficiencies. Its stack is built in-house: proprietary models, automated execution and real-time risk infrastructure. The team draws on backgrounds from major investment banks and from established prop firms including Optiver, Maven, Mako and Volant.
